It starts on the slope of Mount Lakestavi on the border with Georgia [2] . It flows in a northerly direction along the Nutsurako ridge along a valley overgrown with pine-birch forest [2] . The mouth of the river is located 5.6 km along the right bank of the Simbiriskhevi river [4] at an altitude of 1588 meters above sea level [2] .

0.9 km from the estuary, along the right bank of the river flows the Kutsurako River [4] .
