And kara is the first letter of the Balinese alphabet , an unstressed vowel in the middle row of the lower rise . The long vowel at the beginning of the word is conveyed by the letter “A kara dirga”, after a consonant sound it is transmitted using the contact diacritical mark tarung (tedung), corresponding to the signs of elapilla , lakhang , etc.
