Honore (Archbishop of Aix-en-Provence)

The management of the department of Aix-en-Provence took Honore at a time very poorly covered in contemporary historical sources . The main reason for this is the destruction of most of the documents during the repeated ruin of the lands of Provence , carried out by the Spanish Moors in the VIII - first quarter of the X centuries. The previous head of the Exxian Archdiocese , whose name is known, was Benedict , last mentioned in 829 ^[3] .

The name of Archbishop Honore is called in the only document that has survived to this day - a charter dated July 4, 852 or 867. It fixes the conditions for ending the territorial dispute between Bishop Apta Paul I and Bishop Sisteron Bon , according to which these prelates mutually exchanged possessions that were outside the territories of their dioceses ^[4] . Although San Honore’s charter is not specified, as it is supposed, he approved this agreement as the Metropolitan of the Aptian and Sisteron Bishoprics ^[1] . This charter is the first document in which the suffragans of the Exx Metropolis are named ^[2] .

The date of death of Archbishop Honore is unknown. The next chapter in the Exxian Archdiocese in historical sources is called Robert I , first mentioned in 878 ^{[1] [2]} .
