The Well of Happiness

According to old-timers, this 25-meter well in the center of Spassky was dug in 1876 , but was already abandoned in the 1920s. During the Great Patriotic War , when other wells were destroyed, long lines for water again began to line up to this ancient well. But over time, the springs became silty, the log house dilapidated, and the well became worthless. The idea to restore the well appeared during the explosions of artillery depots in Novobogdanovka , when water outages again occurred in Spassky. The work was completed in 2009 . The name “Well of Happiness” is associated with a new tradition: newlyweds should drink water from the well on the wedding day, put a lock on its fence, and throw the key into the depth of the well [10] . In 2011, the Well of Happiness was declared one of the "Seven Wonders of the World in the Melitopol Territory" [11] .
