The Bussigt estate ( German: Gut Bossigt ) - (in use - the Duden castle) - an estate located in the middle of the 18th century in Lachhausen (now the city quarter of Wesel , North Rhine-Westphalia ). The estate is notable for the birth here (January 3, 1829 ) of the famous philologist - Germanist and lexicographer Konrad Duden , the compiler of the famous spelling dictionary of the German language and the founder of German spelling.
Konrad Duden 's father, Johann Conrad Duden (1802–1885), a railway official and distillery owner, received the manor building and surrounding buildings from his future father-in-law Johann Jacob Monjé.
The early historical buildings of the Bossigt estate, erected in 1767 , and various extensions to the main building, built in 1887 and 1970 , formed over time a significant complex of structures.
