Foreland (front line of defense) [1] - a fortified front line of defense in front of the main line of defense or in front of a fortified area , [2] a separate element of modern defense [1] .
The purpose of the foreground is to delay the advancing enemy in order to gain time and exhaust him during the approach to the defensive line. Terrain conditions and conditions can lead to the most diverse decisions of the defending side on the organization of the pre-field. The depth of the foreground can vary significantly.
