Donetsk city dolphinarium "Nemo" is located in Shcherbakova park . It was opened on December 19, 2009 , works year-round. It is part of the national network of cultural and recreational complexes "Nemo", which has 5 dolphinariums in Berdyansk , Donetsk, Kiev , Odessa and Kharkov . Donetsk city dolphinarium combines a dolphinarium, an oceanarium and a dolphin therapy center.
Among the main tasks of the dolphinarium is the promotion of environmental ideas, the popularization of knowledge about marine mammals. Performances featuring Black Sea bottlenose dolphins , South American fur seals and a southern sea lion are held daily, three times a day. In addition to performances in the Donetsk dolphinarium "Nemo" there is the possibility of swimming and diving with dolphins. Dolphin therapy sessions are also held, which are an effective method of drug-free recovery and rehabilitation of children with functional limitations.
In August 2014, due to the growing armed conflict in the Donbass, the Donetsk city dolphinarium Nemo stopped receiving visitors and moved two dolphins and two fur seals to the Kharkov dolphinarium [1] [2] .
On the night of November 24, 2016, a fire occurred, according to the DNR government, a short circuit occurred.
