Andrey Lukich Ovsov ( 1796 , the village of Panesia , the Galician district , Kostroma province - January 29, 1858 , Penza ) - archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church , rector of theological schools of the Penza diocese .
Biography
He was born in 1796 in the village of Panesia of the Galitsky district of the Kostroma diocese, where his father was a priest.
Given in 1806 to the Galitsky Theological School, Ovsov already in 1809 moved to the Kostroma Seminary , which he graduated seven years later with the title of student. It was not easy for Ovsov during these ten years. His father, burdened by a large family, was so poor that the family often had to eat almost one bread.
Entering the Moscow Theological Academy in 1816 , he attracted attention with his writings, two of which were published in the collected works of students of the Moscow Theological Academy.
After graduating from the Ovs Academy on September 18, 1820, he was elevated to the master 's degree in theology and was subsequently appointed inspector and professor of philosophy at the Penza Theological Seminary .
Two years later, he was also appointed rector of Penza theological schools.
On August 1, 1831 he was ordained a priest with the appointment of rector of the Penza Nicholas Church and with leaving in all posts held.
On July 24, 1834, he was also appointed a deputy to the Penza Criminal Chamber, to be present in cases involving clergy.
The performance of numerous and varied posts greatly tired Ovsov, and at his request he was dismissed on September 7, 1834 from the post of inspector and professor of the seminary, with the resignation, however, of the rector of theological schools and the deputy of the House.
On April 27, 1840, he was awarded a kamilavka , and five years later he appeared at the church chair as a catechist , and with his sermons quickly attracted general attention.
On December 31, 1846, he was also appointed a member of the Penza Spiritual Consistory.
On April 11, 1855, on behalf of the Penza bishop, he assumed the duties of a censor of sermons, delivered alternately by the learned clergy in the cathedral, and in the same year, moreover, he was appointed a member of the Committee on Historical and Statistical Description of the Penza Diocese, and described some of the oldest and most interesting temples of this diocese.
But he did not have to work hard in his last career. His health was greatly shaken and he died on January 29, 1858. His body was buried at the Penza Nicholas Church.
