History
On March 3, 1949, the Holy See established the Apostolic Prefecture of Oyo, separating it from the Apostolic Vicariate (today - the Archdiocese of Lagos ).
On January 18, 1963, Pope John XXIII issued the Bull Sacrum Consilium , which transformed the Apostolic Prefecture of Hoyo into a diocese. On the same day, the diocese of Oyo entered the metropolis of Lagos.
On March 26, 1994, the Diocese of Oyo entered the Metropolitanate of Ibadan .
On March 3, 1995, the Diocese of Hoyo transferred part of its theory to the new Diocese of Osogbo .
