History
The Asakusa Line was the first line built by the Tokyo Government. The name Line 1 was planned: later the line was named after Asakusa, Tokyo. Initially, it was planned that the line would pass by the existing Asakusa station, but later it was decided to draw a line through this station in order to take advantage of the possibility of transferring passengers on the Iseaki and Ginza lines .
The initial 3.2 km long section between Osiage and Asakusabashi stations was opened on December 4th, 1960. Further, the line was extended according to the following schedule:
- May 1962: Asakusabashi - Higashi-Nihombashi
- September 1962: Higashi-Nihombashi-Ningyo
- February 1963: Ningyo-ас Higashi Ginza
- December 1963: Higashi Ginza - Shimbashi
- October 1964: Shimbashi - Dimon
- June 1968: Daimon - Sengakuji (Beginning of end-to-end communication with the Keikyu line)
- November 15, 1968: Sengakuji - Nishi-Magome
From 1998 to 2002, the line was used as the main transport corridor between the largest airports in Haneda and Narita . And although some trains still pass this route, their number has been greatly reduced since 2002.
