On December 27, 1968, at 10:00, the regiment took up combat duty at the mine-based missile system with single launches of the UR-100 (8K84) chief designer VN Chelomey . The regiment consisted of 10 silos in the BRK-3 positional area . In 1973, the regiment’s missiles were replaced with an UR-100K (15A20) with a split head of a diverging type. With these missiles, the regiment carried combat duty until 1988.

In December 1987, in accordance with the directive of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the GK RVSN, the regiment was removed from combat duty in the 8K84 complex for re-equipment to the Topol mobile soil missile system (15P158). After retraining of the regimental personnel in the training center at the Plesetsk training ground, in October 1988, the combat regiment of the regiment under the command of the guard division commander Major I.V. Chebotaryov successfully completed the combat training start (UBP) of IDB 15Zh58. And on December 13, 1988, 235 RP laid on combat duty at the Topol combat missile system (DBK) (9 missiles - 3 divisions with 3 launchers in each).

Sasin’s guard launched a missile. On November 7, 1990, the autonomous launchers (APU) of the Topol RK of the 235th Missile Regiment were demonstrated for the first time during the 120th anniversary parade on Red Square in Moscow. The march of 9 APUs from the positional area of the 54th missile division to Moscow and back was accomplished under its own command under the command of the Guard Col. A. F. Shurko, for which he was awarded the Order of the Red Star .

On November 27, 1999, the regiment was given the honorary title “Ivanovsky” by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
