History
Otradovka is a village, the center of the village council. It is located 10 km east of the district center and 6 km from the highway Kakhovka - Novoalekseevka. The population is 1962 people. On the territory of the village is located the central estate of the collective farm "Stepoviy" (the economy of communist labor), which is led by Hero of Socialist Labor, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine V.M. Storchak. The farm has 8700 hectares of agricultural land, including 7900 hectares of arable land, of which 3200 hectares are irrigated. 59 ha are occupied by gardens, 791 ha - pastures. The collective farm specializes in growing heifers, produces grain, milk and vegetables. Ancillary enterprises - a cannery, a mill, a workshop for the production of granules and grass meal. 83 workers were awarded orders and medals of the USSR. To the combiner I. A. Lutsenko (now a pensioner) in 1966 was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor; he was awarded two orders of Lenin and the Order of the October Revolution. His brother, also a combiner, G. A. Lutsenko is a holder of the three orders of Lenin and the Order of the October Revolution. The machine operators P. N. Fisin, N. N. Buglak and I. I. Kovalenko were also awarded the Order of Lenin, and the tractor driver N. N. Serdyuk was awarded the Order of the October Revolution. The collective farm is a collective member of the Ukrainian Society of Soviet-Bulgarian Friendship. Collective farmers maintain friendly relations with rural workers of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria: exchange delegations and correspond with them.
In Otradovka there is a secondary school (24 teachers and 301 students), a culture house with a hall for 400 seats, 2 libraries with a book fund of 18.5 thousand copies; feldsher-midwife station, nursery-garden with 145 places; a public catering complex with 150 seats, a savings bank, a post office, a telephone exchange with 50 rooms, a shopping complex, 4 shops and cafes, a household. The streets of the village are asphalted. The park of culture and rest is broken; laid a birch grove, created a recreation area with an artificial pond and a boat station. In 3 party organizations 104 communists are united, in the Komsomol - 125 members of the Komsomol. The first party and Komsomol cells were created in 1923. The first mention of the village in historical sources dates back to 1820. Soviet power was established in January 1918. In 1920, the headquarters of the 1st Cavalry Army was located in Otradovka, from where the legendary commanders K. E. Voroshilov and S. M. Budyonny led the fighting actions against the Wrangelites. In April 1944, the headquarters of the commander of the 4th Ukrainian Front, Army General F.I. Tolbukhin, was located in the village.
Marshal of the Soviet Union A.M. Vasilevsky was also located here, the chief of the General Staff and first deputy commissar of defense of the USSR. At the fronts of World War II, 396 local residents defended their homeland, 147 of them were awarded orders and medals of the Soviet Socialist Republic for military exploits, 248 died the death of the brave. A monument was erected to 246 Soviet soldiers-liberators buried in a mass grave. A monument of Glory to the fellow countrymen who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the Motherland was erected. In 1981, a monument was built to V.I. Lenin.
