Life and Works
The Monk Simon Soyginsky belongs to the Komel branch of the disciples of St. Sergius of Radonezh .
He was born in Solvychegodsk in the family of Nikita Tentyukov. From a young age the grace of God rested on it. He shied away from the rush of the world. When he was young, he left his parents' house and arrived at Rev. Cornelius Komelsky at the monastery, which was distinguished by a strict charter and was "remarkable as an indicator of the monastic life of the 15th century, its edifying rules served to confirm many holy monasteries." There he took the veil and underwent obedience among such famous devotees - the disciples of St. Cornelius, like the Rev. Gennady Kostroma and Lyubimogradsky , Herodion Iloezersky , Adrian Poshekhonsky , Lavrentiy Komelsky .
After the death of his mentor, Rev. Cornelius, Rev. Simon, being an associate of Rev. Longin , went with him to the wilderness area. For some time the devotees stopped in the Solychegodsky Borisoglebsky Monastery (where many of the family of St. Simon were among the brethren). Then, having left this monastery, they came to the mouth of the Koryazhma river. There Reverend Longinus decided to stay.
Rev. Simon helped his elder friend to build a cell and a chapel, and he himself moved to the mouth of the river Soigi , where he founded the Savior Transfiguration Soyginsky monastery, consecrated on May 17, 1541 . Having built a deserted abode at this church, the monk was chosen as hegumen by the brethren.
Managed the abode twenty years. The Monk Simon died on November 24, 1562, and was buried in the monastery founded by him in the church in the name of the holy Great Martyr Catherine , whose memory is also committed on November 24.
