History
In 1775, the Olekminsk Commissioner was formed as part of the Yakut Province . In 1784, the Yakutsk province was transformed into the Yakutsk region, and the Olekminsk commissioner was transformed into the Olekminsk district . In 1796, the Olekminsk county was again transformed into the Olekminsk commissioner.
In 1822, the Olekminsk Commissioner was transformed into the Olekminsk District . In 1920, the Olekminsk district was transformed into Olekminsk district, and in 1926 the district again became a district. In 1930, all districts of the Yakut ASSR were abolished.
Population
According to the census of 1897, 36.2 thousand people lived in the district. Including Russians - 54.5%; Yakuts - 36.4%; Tatars - 3.0%; Tungus ( Evenki and Eveny ) - 2.4%. 1144 people lived in Olekminsk. [3]
