Roylo

Map of Albino de Canepa, 1489. Roylo Island West of Antilles

Royllo is a ghost island depicted on maps of the 15th century in the Atlantic Ocean west of the Iberian Peninsula .

The island was first depicted on the portulana of the Venetian cartographer Giovanni Pizzigano (1424), where he was called Iman (Ymana). Subsequent cartographers began to call the island of Roylo, but retained its original location.

Roylo was portrayed as a small island located a little to the west of Antilia with its seven cities . The island belongs to the so-called “Antilia group”, which also includes the islands of Antilia, Saya and the island of Satan , often located nearby.

By the end of the 15th century, the island ceased to appear on maps.
