Biography
Ronchevskaya Lyudmila Alekseevna was born on April 5, 1907 in Vladivostok. Her father, Aleksey Danilovich Ronchevsky (1856–1914), was the chief surgeon of a military hospital, chairman of the Society for the Study of the Amur Region , and her mother, Ronchevskaya (nee Sokolovskaya), Lyudmila Aleksandrovna (1871-1949), was a vocal teacher. In 1923 she graduated from high school and entered the Leningrad VKhUTEIN . She studied with S.V. Prisyolkov, K.S. Petrov-Vodkin . In 1928 she graduated from the institute in the workshop of K. S. Petrov-Vodkin with the title of artist of monumental painting. Thesis - painting of the central hall in the art pavilion for the International Exhibition in Leningrad [2] .
After graduation, she worked on the execution of design orders, participated in exhibitions of the Academy of Arts . In 1932-1934, she taught painting and drawing at the work faculty at the LIJSA VAC. In 1935, she studied at continuing education courses at the LISSA with A. Savinov and S. Abugov . In 1936 she traveled to Tajikistan, the result of which was the writing of a number of sketches. In 1937-1940 she worked on orders from the Museum of the Revolution , for which she performed several paintings on a historical and revolutionary theme: “S. M. Kirov in Astrakhan ”(1937),“ Batumi Demonstration ”(1938),“ First Furrow ”(1939). In 1940 she was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists . After the outbreak of the war, she remained in Leningrad, graduated from nursing courses and worked in a hospital. In 1942-1944 was at the disposal of the political department of the Leningrad Front and was engaged in the organization of patronage work in military units. She was awarded the medals “For the Defense of Leningrad” and “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War” .
She participated in exhibitions since 1944, exhibiting her works together with the works of leading masters of fine art of Leningrad. In the postwar years, she was engaged mainly in landscape painting, worked under contracts with the Art Fund of the RSFSR. In 1950-1970 she traveled to Armenia, Pereslavl-Zalessky, repeatedly worked in the houses of artists in Staraya Ladoga and Goryachiy Klyuch. Visited Norway, Switzerland. Among the works created by L. Ronchevskaya, the paintings “Leningrad in blockade”, “Summer of 1942”, “Evacuation of the Hermitage” [3] (all 1942), “Entrance to the Hermitage” [4] (1957), “Alley in Garni” , “Ararat in the Fog” [5] (both 1958), “Wintering Ships” [6] (1959), “Garni Mountains” [7] , “Blooming Front Garden” [6] (both 1960), “Excavations in the Mountains” , “State Farm Street” [8] (both 1961), “Village of Chernavino” (1962), “Volgo-Balt at Dawn” (1966), “Norway. Evening Bergen ”,“ Norway. Mountain Lake ” [9] (both 1968),“ San Gottard Pass ”(1970),“ Poplars ” [10] (1971),“ Smokes in the Mountains ”(1973),“ Battleship at the Mining Institute. 1943 ”(1975),“ Blue Village ”(1979),“ Kuban Women ” [11] (1980) and others.
Ronchevskaya Lyudmila Alekseevna died on January 9, 1995 in St. Petersburg in her eighty-eighth year of life. Her works are in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
