Ryil ( cor. 리을 ) - the fourth letter of the Korean alphabet , graphically corresponds to the Chinese 49 hieroglyphic key . Ryil serves to designate the sounds L , P ; - at the beginning of the word, the etymologically solid P gave in the modern language H, and the soft P gave the sound Y in front of the vowels ( ㅑ , ㅒ , ㅕ , ㅖ , ㅛ , ㅠ ) and a zero, unreadable initial in front of the vowel I ( ㅣ ). According to the old spelling, at the beginning of a word it was written only in borrowed words. In accordance with this and in the dictionaries, all words with the initial solid riyl were located in the section niyn letters, and with the initial soft riyl under the corresponding vowel. According to the new spelling, the letter riyl at the beginning of the word is written in any case. In the middle of the word between the vowels and before the letter hiit is read as R. At the end of a word; before all consonants, except hiit, and after the consonants of nyn and riyl, L is read.
