About the album

Before the album was released in 2001, guitarist Rick Barton, one of the founders of the band, left the band. He announced James Lynch of the Boston punk band The Ducky Boys as his successor. In addition to Lynch, the group later included 17-year-old Mark Orrell on a solo guitar (he is also a self-taught accordionist). The group was also joined by Ryan Folts, playing the mandolin and flute, guitarist James Lunch and piper Robbie Mederios, better known as Spacey Makhaggis.

The record was recorded by The Pogues vocalist Shane McGohan and Colin McFaulle of Cock Sparrer . The album includes an updated version of the old Dropkick Murphys song “Caps and Bottles”, classic Irish folk music “The Rocky Road to Dublin” and “The Wild Rover”, as well as the anthem of the famous Boston College, founded back in 1863, “For Boston” . The group released music videos for the songs “The Spicy McHaggis Jig”, which starred Lars Frederiksen, the former producer of the band and Rancid punk band, The Gauntlet and The Wild Rover.

For the first time, the producer of the album was one of the founders of the band, bass player and vocalist Ken Casey .

Album cover

The fresco photographed for the cover is depicted on one of the walls in South Boston (a densely populated neighborhood of the city with an adjoining canal) on a street corner on West Broadway. It was written by Tricia O'Neill and her father, American headliner Patrick O'Neill in the summer of 2000. Tricia was hired to work by Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey and his wife. Patrick also shot a video for the band for the song “Walk Away”, and Tricia was the cover designer for the next album of Blackout , released in 2003. [one]
