In 317, Bass was appointed prefect of Rome , who was with a short break (in 318, when in the summer he was replaced by Julius Cassius ). Perhaps the son of Lucius Septimius Severus and Pomponii. He was married and had a daughter, Septimia, who was born about 305. She became the wife of a senator and possibly gave birth to a son. The grandson of Bass was the prefect of Rome, Lucius Valery Septimius Bass . Nothing more is known about him.
