President of Turkmenistan Cup

President’s Cup of Turkmenistan ( Turk. Türkmenistanyň Prezidentiniň kubogy ) - international friendly football tournament in Turkmenistan , which was established in 1994 . The tournament is dedicated to the Day of the National Flag of Turkmenistan . The prize fund is $ 35,000. The winner receives 20,000 US dollars along with the President's Cup, the silver medalist - 10,000 dollars, the bronze medalist - 5,000 US dollars [1] [2] . From 2012, the tournament was postponed from February to September [3] .

The international football tournament is traditionally held in Ashgabat and is very popular in the region . For the history of their existence, teams from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan , the Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan , Tajikistan , Estonia, Iran , Turkey, the Republic of Korea, China and Thailand fought for the President's Cup. In 2009, a team from Bahrain made its debut in the tournament in Ashgabat , thereby expanding the geography to 20 countries.

For 15 years, the President’s Cup left the country three times - the Iranian Estegal won the trophy in 1998, the Georgian Torpedo Kutaisi in 2002 and the Moldavian Dacia in 2006. Ashgabat Nisa won the tournament four times (1999, 2003, 2004 and 2005). Kopetdag and MTTU won this cup three times, respectively (1995, 1996 and 2001) and (2007, 2008 and 2009). The national football team of Turkmenistan (1997), the national team from Ashgabat (2000), the national team of Turkmenistan U17 (2012) and the national team of Turkmenistan U15 (2013) won the President’s Cup once.
