Biography
Wilhelm Khristoforovich von Bussau entered military service on August 25, 1817 in the army infantry.
He served in the Caucasus , took part in the Russian-Persian war of 1826-1828, and for distinction he was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 4th degree. For military distinctions during the Russian-Turkish war of 1828-1829 he received the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with a bow.
In 1837 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and in 1845 - to colonel .
In 1849, Bussau fought with the Hungarians in Transylvania and on October 31 was awarded a semi-saber with the inscription "For Courage . " Also for this campaign, he received the Austrian Order of the Iron Crown of the 2nd degree.
In the 1840s, Wilhelm Khristoforovich von Bussau commanded the Aleksopol Jaeger Regiment . On December 6, 1853, Bussau received the rank of Major General .
During the Crimean War, as a commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 15th Reserve Infantry Division, he took part in the defense of Sevastopol . He was the commandant of the Malakhov Kurgan.
Wilhelm Khristoforovich von Bussau was killed by a bullet in the chest on August 27, 1855 on the Malakhov Kurgan when repulsing the assault on Sevastopol by the Anglo-French troops, when he “ stoned off enemies that burst into the barrow ” [1] .

- Order of St. George 4th degree (December 5, 1841, for the immaculate length of service 25 years in officer ranks, No. 6507 according to the list of cavalier Grigorovich - Stepanov)
- Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree (1848, the imperial crown was granted to this order in 1849)
- Half-saber with the inscription "For courage" (October 31, 1849)
- Order of St. Vladimir 3rd degree (1852)
- Order of St. Stanislav 1st degree (1854)
