Biography
Cummings graduated from the Carver High School in Chicago , after which he studied at De Paul University from 1979 to 1982. At university, he averaged 16.4 points per game. In 1982, he was selected in a draft under 2 general number by the San Diego Clippers Club. In the first season in the NBA, he scored an average of 23.7 points per game and made 10.4 rebounds and became the rookie of the year .
In the 1983/84 season, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks , where he continued to score over 20 points per game and made over 8 rebounds. Playing for the Bucks, he twice selected to participate in the match of all the NBA stars . In 1989, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs , where he spent the next 6 seasons. From 1989 to 1992, he averaged about 20 points per game and made about 8 rebounds and helped the team win more than 50 games in the championship for several seasons in a row.
NBA Injury and Return
In the summer of 1992, in one of the pre-season games, Cummings received a serious wrist injury. He was forced to miss the first 74 games of the season. After his return, he was no longer able to play at the player level of the match of all stars and basically came on as a substitute. In subsequent years, he changed several teams until at the end of the 1999/2000 season he announced his retirement.
For 18 seasons in the NBA, Terry Cummings scored 19,640 points, slightly not reaching the mark of 20,000 points. However, even with this result, he is among the 50 most successful players in NBA history.
