Jimjam

JimJam ( JimJam Television Limited ) is an international children's channel for preschoolers [1] . The channel’s audience is about 17 million viewers. The JimJam channel is broadcast via cable and satellite in more than 60 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa in 13 languages. [2] In the European market of children's television channels it is considered one of the most important, along with the Disney Channel , Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network [3] .

History

The channel was launched in 2006 in Italy by SKY Italia , the channel’s audience was children under 10 years old. In September 2007, JimJam became a joint venture of the producer and distributor of thematic channels, the British company Chellomedia (entered its international division - the company Chellomedia Zone ) and the manufacturer of children's programs, the US-British company . At the conclusion of the transaction, JimJam was declared as an international channel for preschoolers, it was planned to start cable and satellite broadcasting in Europe, and then extend the broadcast to other regions (except for the USA and Great Britain). By November 2007, the channel was broadcasting in several countries of central and eastern Europe; in 2008, the channel was available in Italy, Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Portugal, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Russia. By 2010, the channel became available in more than 50 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. In 2010, HIT Entertainment stepped out of the channel, continuing to provide content for it, and the Chellomedia Zone became the sole owner of the channel.

By 2013, the channel’s audience totaled about 17 million viewers in more than 60 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The channel is broadcast in 13 different languages, including 4 localized versions (for example, Polsat JimJam in Poland). In 2014, the channel, together with Chellomedia , was acquired by the American company , while the Chellomedia Zone was allocated to .
