Policy
Residents of the canton adhered to leftist views. In the 2012 presidential election, they cast 30.9% of the vote in the 1st round to Francois Hollande versus 24.4% for Marin Le Pen and 21.1% for Nicolas Sarkozy ; Hollande won in the 2nd round in the canton, receiving 65 , 8% of the vote (2007 1st round: Segolen Royal - 28.0%, Sarkozy - 24.9%; 2nd round: Royal - 52.1%). In the elections to the National Assembly in 2012 in the 13th constituency of the Nor Department , the canton supported the incumbent, leftist candidate Christian Yuten , who won 47.8% of the vote in the 1st round and 64.2% in the 2nd round . (2007 12th district. Christian Uten (RGD): 1st round: - 48.8%, 2nd round - 69.0%). In the 2010 regional elections, the list of socialists won in the 1st round, collecting 36.1% of the vote. In the 2nd round, a single “left list” with the participation of socialists, communists and “greens” led by the President of the Regional Council of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Daniel Percheron received 56.2% of the vote, the “right” list led by Senator Valerie Letar took second place with 24.7%, and the National Front Marine Le Pen with 19.1% finished third.
