Hyrynsalmi ( fin. Hyrynsalmi ) is a community in eastern Finland, in the province of Kainuu . The population is 2,732 people (as of January 31, 2011); the area is 1,521.36 km², of which 100.32 km² is occupied by water bodies. The population density is 1.92 people / km². The official language is Finnish (native to 98.7% of the population).

Since 1989, the championship in swamp football has been held annually at Hyrynsalmi (since 2000, the championship has become international) [1] .
