Biography
Born in 1851 in the family of a priest of the Mother of God Church of Rzhev (later - archpriest of the Borisoglebsky Cathedral of Staritsa and St. Nicholas Cathedral of Kalyazin ) of the Tver Diocese of Ilia Vasilyevich Moroshkin, awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree and recognized in hereditary nobility in 1884 (introduced in the hereditary nobility part of the genealogy book of the Tver province ). Simultaneously with Elijah Vasilievich, his sons (among them Vasily) were recognized in the hereditary nobility [2] .
He received his secondary theological education at the Tver Theological Seminary .
In 1875 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Theological Academy with a degree of candidate of theology and was appointed a teacher of the Tver Theological Seminary .
He was tonsured a monk on August 8, 1887, was ordained hierodeacon on August 13, and hieromonk on August 15.
Since January 8, 1888 - Inspector of the Mogilev Theological Seminary .
July 22, 1889 elevated to the rank of archimandrite . Appointed rector of the same seminary.
Since September 19, 1891 - rector of the Tiflis Theological Seminary .
Since September 30 of the same year - a member of the Georgian-Imereti Synodal Office.
In 1893, he was a senior member of the St. Petersburg Censorship Committee .
By the highest decree of August 25, 1895, he was appointed to the post of bishop of Elisavetgrad, vicar of the Kherson diocese [3] .
September 8, 1895 in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra was ordained bishop of Elisavetgrad, vicar of the Kherson diocese.
He died on March 27, 1903 .
