Cheong Tang Shang ( Vietnamese. Trương Tấn Sang , January 21, 1949, Dykhoa County, Longan Province, French Indochina ) - President of Vietnam from 2011 [1] to 2016 . Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party . He became president of the country following a vote in the National Assembly in July 2011 . Cheong Tan Shang - Member of the Politburo since 1996. He was the party secretary in Ho Chi Minh from 1996 to 2000.

Early career
Chuong Tan Shang joined the Communist Party on December 20, 1969. In 1971 he was imprisoned by the South Vietnamese government, but already in 1973 he was released following the results of the Paris Peace Treaty .
In 1990, he received a bachelor's degree from the National Academy of Public Administration.
In 1991 he became a member of the Central Committee in the national party.
At the party congress in April 2006, he was appointed executive secretary of the party secretariat, which gives the right to control the composition and structure of the party.
Presidential post
On July 25, 2011, the Shang National Assembly was elected President of Vietnam . In the election campaign, Shang promised to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the state, as well as to resolve the territorial dispute over the Spratly Islands with China peacefully. He will also take such actions that will allow Vietnam to become an industrialized and modernized country by 2020.
On July 25, 2013, Shang met with Barack Obama , US President, to discuss trade issues.
