Scandal with CSKA
In October 2008, Andrei Ishchuk, being the chairman of the board of directors of the Volgaburmash holding (owner of CSKA), sold his entire business (75 percent of the company's shares) to the new owners. The new owners said that the female CSKA is not included in the scope of their social and investment interests. A. Ishchuk promised to close his salary for the players, coaches and administration for October, and then funding will cease completely. ZhBK "CSKA" declared itself bankrupt [2] [3] [4] .
November 25, 2008 by decision of the founders of the club CSKA withdrew from the Euroleague FIBA. Thus, the match against the Latvian TTT Riga , scheduled for November 26, did not take place. According to Art. 59 rules of the FIBA European Club Tournaments, that in case of refusal to participate in the competition after the draw, the entry fee will not be returned to the club; a fine of up to 30 thousand euros will be imposed on the national federation [5]
The leadership of CSKA conducted a feverish search for the main sponsor and there was no talk of maintaining the previous star cast. Willingness was even to cut the budget by tens of times, just to at least stay in the Russian Championship.
On November 29, 2008, it was announced that CSKA would be saved by people related to Gazprom . The club’s budget was maintained at the level planned before the start of the season [6] [7] .
On December 1, 2008, members of the Bureau of the FIBA Europe Executive Committee officially voted directly to return the female CSKA to the Euroleague. The club was admitted to the Euroleague subject to two conditions. First, CSKA and RSE have provided financial guarantees that the club will definitely finish the tournament to the end. The second - CSKA must fulfill the financial obligations undertaken by the previous owner of the team Andrei Ischuk - to allocate 300 thousand euros for the European Youth Championships-2009. In a missed match with TTT CSKA, a technical defeat was counted, the home game with Gambrinus was postponed from December 3 to 7 and was held in Czech Brno [8] .
On December 9, 2008, the Hungarian MKV Euroleasing filed a lawsuit in a sports court in Lausanne with the aim of reversing the decision to return the army team to the continental tournament, arguing that the conditions for the return of CSKA infringe on the tournament interests of the Hungarian club [9] . The claim was not satisfied.
