Eristalis gatesi (lat.) - species of female flies from the subfamily Eristalinae . Endemic of Costa Rica . Named after Bill Gates , founder of Microsoft Corporation, in recognition of his contribution to the computer revolution [1] .

Description
They are found in alpine foggy forests of Costa Rica at heights of 3-5 km. The breast is black. Legs are generally black, except for yellowish furrow on fore tibia and fore and middle tarsi. The forehead is yellowish white. The antennae are mostly orange. First abdominal tergite black; on tergites 2-3 yellow markings. The black-yellow combination of the color of the abdomen is unique among representatives of the subfamily Eristalinae . They were found on the flowers of plants from the genera Krestovnik ( Senécio ; Astrov family ) and Vaccinium ( Vaccinium ; Heather family) [1] .
