Ruokolahti ( Fin. Ruokolahti ; Swede. Ruokolax ) - a community in the south-east of Finland, in the province of South Karelia . The population of the community is 5587 people (as of January 31, 2012) [1] , but in the summer season the number of inhabitants of these places increases significantly due to settling in cottages. Area - 1219.9 km² [2] , of which 23% are occupied by water bodies. The population density is about 6 people / km². The official language is Finnish, and is native to 98.8% of the population. For 0.1% of the population, Swedish is native; for 1.1% - other languages.

The community is known for the beauty of local nature; in the west is Lake Saimaa ; in the eastern part - several small lakes; natural attraction - Kummakivi . The distance from the community to Helsinki is 276 km, to Joensuu - 187 km, to Imatra - 17 km.
