Geographical position

The village of Maryevka is located 8 km from the right bank of the Dnieper River , at a distance of 6 km from the village of Belenkoye . A drying creek with a dam flows through the village.

History

  • Archaeological research of two mounds in the vicinity of the village (known as Gemini) suggests that people in this area have long lived. In one of the mounds several burials of the Early Bronze Age (III – II millennium BC) were found, in another, a rich Scythian burial (IV century BC). In the catacomb burial "Tyagunova Mogila" a two-wheeled cart was found with a preserved wheel 0.6 m in diameter, approx. 5 thousand years [2] .
  • In 1781, the Geremesov farm was renamed into the village of Maryevskoye .
  • In 1864 it was renamed the village of Maryevka .
