Flagman ( Dutch vlagman , from vlag - flag and man - man) - fleet commander , or commander of the formation of ships , which is assigned the official flag .

In the USSR in 1935-1940 there was a personal military rank of flagship - the person of the highest commanding staff of the Navy . The military rank had four steps: ( flagship of the fleet of the 1st and 2nd rank , flagship of the 1st and 2nd rank ). In 1940 replaced by admiral ranks.
