George Sidney ( born George Sidney ; October 4, 1916 - May 5, 2002 ) is an American film director and producer, from 1951 to 1960 and from 1961 to 1967 the president of the Directors Guild of America . Mostly worked with the film company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer .

Biography
George Sidney was born on October 4, 1916 in Long Island City (now New York City 's Queens ), New York , USA .
From a young age, he worked as an assistant at the film company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer , and at the age of 21 he became the main director of the series β Shoot β. After working on the picture for one year, Sidney became the director of the series Crime Does Not Pay , and since 1943 he began to direct full-length films.
Sidney was very friendly with the animators William Hannah and Joseph Barber , helped them create their own company β Hanna-Barbera β, worked there for ten years, took part in the creation of such famous characters as Fred Flintstone , Dog Hackleberry and .
From 1961 to 1967 he was president of the Directors Guild of America ; marked by several prestigious film awards. Has a star number 6307 on the "Walk of Fame" in Hollywood [1] .
He died of lymphoma in Las Vegas on May 5, 2002, at the 86th year of his life. He was buried in the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery .
