Design Description
The main purpose of the 82-mm mortar is to defeat the enemy both in the open and in field-type shelters . Fire can be conducted from both open and closed positions.
A distinctive feature of 2B25 is the lack of standard signs of a shot when firing. A similar effect is achieved through the use of a specially designed 3VO35E fragmentation shot . When fired, powder gases are locked in the mineshaft, so that no flame, smoke or shock waves are generated, and the volume of the 2B25 shot is comparable to a shot from a Kalashnikov assault rifle using a silencer [1] [2] .
The mortar is capable of hitting targets at ranges from 100 to 1200 meters, with vertical firing angles ranging from +45 to +85 degrees, and horizontal without rearrangement from β4 to +4 degrees. With the rearrangement of the gun carriage, the horizontal angles of fire are 360 ββdegrees. Weight 2B25 does not exceed 13 kg. Serving combat crew - 2 people. Rate of fire - up to 15 rounds per minute. It is possible to fire from the ground of various hardness at any time of the day in any weather conditions. Such characteristics of the mortar provide high mobility and provide the possibility of covert and sudden use [2] .
Gun Evaluation
Despite the fact that similar systems are also being developed abroad (for example, in France ), in terms of caliber , range and mass, they lose the 2B25 mortar [2] .
