Sergei Gavrilovich Chilyaev (Chelyaev, Chiladze) (1803-1864) - major general, Shemakha military governor , participant in the Central Asian campaigns and the Caucasian wars.

Biography
Born in 1803, came from the Georgian nobles of the Tiflis province . Educated in the Mountain Corps. He entered the military service in 1817 as a lieutenant in the Preobrazhensky Life Guards Life Guards , but was soon transferred by the cadet to the Life Guards Finnish Regiment , in which his brother served.
March 12, 1820 Chilyaev was promoted to ensign of the Nizhny Novgorod Dragoon Regiment , in whose ranks he took part in many wars of the time in the Caucasus . In 1821, he was recommended by his brother Yegor for initiation into the Masonic lodge of the Dying Sphinx.
In 1826, Chilyaev distinguished himself in the battle with the Persians near Elisavetpol , then he participated in the sieges and assaults of Abbas Abad, Sardar Abad and Erivani , for which he was awarded a gold saber with the inscription "For courage" on January 25, 1828. After that, he was on a campaign to Tauris, and in 1827 he was promoted to headquarters captain .
In 1828, he fought with the Turks in the Caucasus and participated in the capture of Kars , Akhalkalak and Akhaltsykh . He also distinguished himself in battles in the defeat of the armies of Kos-Megmet Pasha and Mustafa Pasha.
In 1833, Chilyaev was transferred to the Separate Orenburg Corps with the appointment of Count Perovsky, the commander of this corps, as adjutant. In 1835, the Hussar Regiment was enlisted in the Life Guards with the rank of captain of the captain and retirement. In 1837, Chilyaev, for his distinction during an expedition to Mangyshlak, punished the captains of the Ada Kyrgyz and Turkmens for their robber raids. In 1839-1840, he participated in the Winter Campaign in Khiva .
In 1842, Chilyaev was appointed on special assignments to the postal-consignment commander-in-chief Adjutant General Adlerberg .
In 1844, Chilyaev again appeared in the Caucasus and took part in an expedition to Chechnya , for the difference, he was promoted to colonel with the status of cavalry and resignation. In 1849, he was appointed to serve on special assignments under the commander-in-chief of the Separate Caucasian Corps and on December 6, 1850 was promoted to major general with the appointment of the Shemakha military governor and manager of the civil unit. In 1857, he left this post and was appointed to be a member of the Ministry of the Interior. In 1860, he went on vacation abroad.
He died in 1864.
One of his brothers, Boris, was a major general and commanded the Lezghin border line, the other Yegor, the provincial prosecutor of Georgia.
