Moana was born in the province of Genoa , in the administrative region of Liguria . Her name is translated as "where the deepest sea" ^[1] , and not by chance. Her father has been to Hawaii. Moana's father was a nuclear engineer, and he constantly moved with his whole family around the world. In her teens, Moana lived with her family in Canada, then in Brazil. At 13, in 1974, Moana returned to Italy with her family, where she graduated from high school. When the family had to move again to French Lyons , nineteen-year-old Moana decided to stay in Rome and begin an independent life.

In Rome, she began working as a model and studied acting. Sometimes she starred in television commercials or simply went to comedy films in cinemas. She was very ambitious and in Rome became the mistress of many famous people. Her most famous secret lover was Bettino Craxi , Italian Prime Minister from 1983 to 1987. Thanks to his patronage, she got a job on television in an entertainment program for children. In the same year (1981), she starred in her first pornographic film “Valentina, Ragazza in Calore” (“Valentina, a girl in estrus”), which did not win success. A small scandal followed, because at the same time, when the film was in the box office, she was still working on children's television. She denied her participation in the film, but was nevertheless fired from television. This story brought Moana fame, and in 1985 Federico Fellini invited her to play in the movie “ Ginger and Fred ” - but the filming did not take place.

In 1986, Moana met Riccardo Schicchi , manager of the Diva Futura agency working in the porn business. Her first porn, where she starred in the title role, was “Fantastica Moana” (“Fantastic Moana”). She also took part in the famous show Curve Deliziose (Delicious Curves) along with Ciccolina and other famous actresses - the first live show in Italy, where naked models masturbated on stage. This caused scandal and accusations of obscenity. Soon Moana, as a porn actress, became more popular in Italy than the Cicciolins (who had just completed pornography and became a member of parliament). Moana’s television appearances were also accompanied by scandals. In the “Matryoshka Show” (show Matrjoska) she used to appear on the stage completely naked or just wrapped in a transparent veil. Magazines and newspapers were more and more interested in her, and she was increasingly invited to film for magazine covers. Also noted her extraordinary mind, which went against the established opinion of movie stars as stupid. She met with many intellectuals, writers, and artists, such as Mario Stefano or Dario Belletsa. For the first time, a porn star has become so popular in everyday life.

Early 90s

Moana was aware of her role in show business. In an interview, she stressed that she wanted others to see her sexuality, complexity, intelligence, openness and peacefulness.

In 1991, Moana published her first book, The Philosophy of Moana, where she listed and scored from 4 to 9.5 twenty celebrities who were her lovers. The list includes actors such as Robert De Niro , Harvey Keitel , Roberto Benigni and Massimo Troisi ; football players such as Paulo Roberto Falcao and Marco Tardelli ; writers like Luciano de Crescenzo . The name of the most famous politician Bettino Kraksi , who was her lover in 1981, was replaced in the book by a “politician”.

In 1992, Moana, along with Cicciolina (who fought for the legalization of brothels), was one of the founders of the Love Party, which participated in parliamentary elections. No one was elected, but her popularity reached its peak, and the best Italian TV journalists wanted to interview her. The stylist Karl Lagerfeld in 1993 wanted her to come out on the catwalk in his dress. Moana Pozzi became so popular that her main character in the cartoon, created by the famous Italian cartoonist Mario Verger , became co-director. This film called “ Moanaland ” (1994) was often shown on Italian television and in television shows about the actress. On the wave of success, Verge dedicated Moane Pozzi to another cartoon, “I remember Moana,” 1995, well received by film critics. It is possible that Pozzi contracted hepatitis due to promiscuous sex life, but she was not known to be an alcoholic. Only her family and some of her closest colleagues knew about her illness, and in the TV shows with her participation, shot before the end of the summer, she seemed healthy and smiling. The funeral ceremony was not, like an obituary.

Rumors that she was alive began to spread immediately in the United States and in India - which was caused by the silence of her family. Her death in a foreign country also made it difficult to verify the authenticity of the death certificate.

In 2004, to the 10th anniversary of the death, new rumors appeared, and the court of Rome opened a case to finally establish the fact of death. In December 2005, an official death certificate was presented for the first time on the Italian TV show “Chi l'ga Visto?”, Which indicated the exact date of death of the actress. An interview with the family finally confirmed the death of Pozzi.

Her brother Simone, with whom she was particularly close, said in February 2006 on the same TV program that he was actually her son, and not his brother. Moana’s mother recently confirmed this. In 2006, Simone's book was published, where he told his story. The book first revealed the identity of Moana, her various relationships with other members of her family (especially her sister Mima), the course of her illness and death.

On April 2, 2007, Moana Pozzi's husband, Antonio di Ciesco, told the newspaper Il Messaggero that a few days before her death, Moana asked him to speed up her death ^[2] .

Moana Pozzi starred in about 100 porn films, mainly in Italy, as well as in the USA in the films of Gerard Damiano . It sold about a million videotapes with her films. She was on the covers of 50 leading magazines, not counting porn magazines. She reportedly earned more than 50 billion Italian lire (about 40 million euros). Part of her profit was transferred to the financing of medical research ^[3] .

Moana Pozzi’s life is dedicated to the 2009 Italian miniseries Moana.
