Peter Ivanovich Demezon ( fr. Desmaisons ; 1807, Chambery , France - 1873, Paris ) - Russian philologist-orientalist, explorer of Central Asia , Baron (since 1857).

Biography
Demezon's father, MD, came from the Sardinian kingdom (part of modern Italy), taking Russian citizenship.
Peter entered the Imperial Kazan University , studied Oriental languages in St. Petersburg under the guidance of the orientalist G. M. Vlangali . In 1829-1831, he worked at Kazan University, then he was sent to Orenburg , where he worked as a senior teacher of Oriental languages at the Neplyuev Military School and as a translator at the Orenburg Border Commission. In 1833–1834, on behalf of V. A. Perovsky, the military governor of Orenburg, dressed as a Tatar mullah, and calling himself Jafar, visited Bukhara and was not recognized. During this trip, Demeson was engaged in research work, collected valuable materials on the geography and ethnography of the western part of Central Asia. In 1836-1856, Demeson lived and worked in St. Petersburg, where he occupied the Turkish language department at the Oriental Language Department of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , which remained free after the departure of Charmois . In 1843 he headed the whole educational department. In 1846 he participated in the creation of the Imperial Moscow Archaeological Society , was a member of it. From 1857 until the end of his life he lived in Paris, where he translated into French and prepared for publication the work of Abulgazi in the Türkic language "Kitabi-shedzhe-rhei-Turki" ("Pedigree tree of the Turks"). Baron's title was in 1857 from the King of Sardinian, Victor Emmanuel II . In 1872 he resigned.
He died in 1873.
