After graduating from the Stroganov School, he worked as a medalist, book illustrator, and creator of ceramic reliefs. Later he took up graphics and collage graphics.
Thanks to his aunt Anna Ivanovna Troyanovskaya, at the age of eleven he met Svyatoslav Richter ; This acquaintance grew into a friendship that lasted until the end of Richter’s life. After the death of Richter wrote a series of his portraits. In 2002 he published the book "Richter and his time." Under the influence of Richter, Terekhov’s son, Sergey , became a pianist.

Never works from nature. One of the main themes in the work - the Gospel. In recent years, wrote a lot of portraits.
In 1980 he fulfilled the order of the Moscow Patriarchate for the anniversary medal to the 70th anniversary of Patriarch Pimen . After Pimen’s approval, 200 copies were made, one of which was donated by the Patriarch to the author on the day of his name day. The personality of Pimen, modest in life, a soldier of World War II , seriously wounded at Stalingrad , made a big impression on Terekhov. The patriarch gave the artist the Gospel , blessing him to read one chapter each day. From now on, Terekhov daily reads one chapter of the Gospel. The result of this reading were 25 drawings on gospel themes, which were distributed to various museums. [one]
Knowing about these drawings, the Catholic publishing house ordered Terekhov a series of illustrations on the theme of the Cross of Jesus Christ to the book being published. After the engravings were completed, the book was published, but the entire edition burned down in the editorial office in the former communal apartments in the center of Moscow. After twenty years, the work was restored by the artist, but it turned out not so cathically lush and decorative. However, in accordance with the Catholic tradition, fourteen stations were preserved - the stops of Christ during the Way of the Cross. [one]
