Biography
Born September 26, 1953 in the city of Slavyansk, Stalin Region.
In 1978, he graduated from the History Department of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv .
In 1975-1978 he studied in graduate school at the Department of Archeology and Museum Studies.
From 1978 to 1982, he worked as an assistant in the Department of History of Ukraine at the History Department of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv.
In 1982, he defended his thesis on the topic “Ornament of the Bronze Age of the Steppe Ukraine as a Historical Source for Studying a Primitive Worldview” and went on to work as an assistant at the Department of Archeology and Museum Studies, where he worked until 1992 (since 1988 - as an assistant professor).
He defended his doctoral dissertation “The Problem of Awareness of Space in Societies of the Neolithic-Bronze Ages of Southeastern Europe” in 1992. Since that time, he has been a professor, head of the department of cultural studies and archeology at the faculty of humanities of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy
N. A. Chmykhov was a Ukrainian archaeologist and culturologist, he studied the problems of chronology, ethnogenesis and spiritual culture of the population of Europe and the Middle East of the Copper-Bronze and Iron Ages. He was interested in the problems of the spiritual culture of ancient societies, mythological consciousness and its reflection in the objective world of specific archaeological cultures, as well as the study of the cosmic symbolism of archaeological sites of different times.
He took part in 1973-1986. In the work of the Donetsk, Severodonetsk, Ingul, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Lugansk and other expeditions.
