Adlerberg, Julia Fedorovna

Julia Fyodorovna Adlerberg [3] (nee. Baggovut; Swede. Anna Charlotta Juliana Adlerberg ; German. Anna Charlotte Juliana von Adlerberg ; 1760–1839) - Head of the Smolny Institute of Noble Maidens in 1802–39, the State Lady of the Russian Imperial Court.

Biography

Comes from Baggovutov - a noble family of Norwegian origin. She was born in Revel on October 15 (26), 1760 . Sister K. F Baggovut , Russian Lieutenant General .

On September 25 ( October 6 ), 1785, she married Colonel Gustav-Friedrich (Fyodor Yakovlevich) Adlerberg , who married her in a second marriage. Widowed in 1794.

From 1797 she was a teacher at the youngest sons of Emperor Paul I, the grand dukes Nikolay and Mikhail Pavlovich .

On April 12 (24), 1802, she received the position of Head of the Smolny Institute of Noble Maidens.

February 24 ( March 8 ) of 1824 was granted to the State Lady, on April 24 ( May 6 ) of the same year received the Order of St. Catherine of the 2nd degree , and on July 22 ( August 3 ) of 1835 - the Order of St. Catherine of the 1st degree .

She died on September 20 ( October 2 ), 1839 in St. Petersburg . Buried at the Volkov Lutheran Cemetery .

In honor of Yu.F. Adlerberg the square in front of the Smolny building bore the name of the Adlerberg Square [4] .
