History

The founders of the company in the 1990s were engaged in the computer business: assembling and selling PCs , system integration . In 1998, after default, they decided to reorient from servicing corporate clients to retail . The company DNS (Digital Network System) was founded and the first store was opened in Vladivostok , in one of the premises of which computers were assembled [4] .

Since 2005, the company begins to develop a distribution network, opening its second store in Nakhodka . In the same year, DNS goes beyond the Primorsky Territory , the third store of the network appears in Khabarovsk . In 2006, a store opens in Irkutsk , in 2007 - stores in Komsomolsk-on-Amur , Blagoveshchensk , Tomsk and Abakan . During 2008 - 2009, stores were opened in Chita , Novosibirsk , Krasnoyarsk , Yekaterinburg , Chelyabinsk , Rostov-on-Don , Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk . Along with development in new regions, the existing network in the regions of presence is expanding.

In 2010, the company’s branch network consisted of more than 100 stores in 28 cities of Russia, in which more than 1.5 thousand employees were employed. At the beginning of 2011, more than 185 stores were opened in 60 cities of Russia, the number of employees amounted to more than 3.5 thousand employees. The company at this time began its expansion in the capital region ( Moscow , Moscow region ), continuing to develop in Siberia and the south of the country . As of July 2013, more than 700 stores were opened in more than 200 cities of Russia.

In 2012, the constructed DNS plant, designed to build 1.5 million computers and laptops per year, began to operate in the city ​​of Artyom in the Primorsky Territory. According to the results of the same 2012, the company's revenue amounted to 86.4 billion rubles, which allowed it to occupy 60th place in the ranking of Forbes magazine's 200 largest private companies in Russia in 2013.

In parallel with the network of DNS stores, its owners began to develop a network of TechnoPoint electronic discounters, including warehouse stores, orders are made via the Internet or electronic terminals. Network branches operate in 20 cities of Russia, mainly in the Far East and Siberia.

In April 2014, DNS acquired St. Petersburg's Computer World chain of computer equipment stores.

In March 2019, DNS purchased the St. Petersburg retail network Kay [5] .

Activities

In the first half of 2011, the company assembled 193 thousand computers, reaching the first place among Russian PC builders [3] .

The company also produces laptops, computers, monitors , smartphones , power supplies and computer accessories under its own brands DNS, DEXP, ZET.

30% of the company's revenue comes from computer accessories, 18% from laptops, 16% from smartphones , 13% from tablets , 11% from televisions , 3% from desktop computers and SLR cameras, and 2% from mobile phones, compact cameras and monitors.

The company shows high revenue growth rates: 2013 - 110 billion rubles, 2014 - 116 billion rubles, 2015 - 135 billion rubles, 2016 - 152 billion rubles, 2017 - 233 billion rubles. In terms of revenue, DNS is one of the leading business organizations in Russia and ranks 46th in the list of the largest private companies in Russia according to Forbes magazine in 2017. In terms of market share, the retailer is in third place (13.7%).

The company was founded by 10 residents of Vladivostok who had known each other for a long time and had previous experience in the computer business, 9 of them were working in the company as of 2015, the tenth had passed away and his share in the company was inherited by his family. Among the founders are Dmitry Alekseev ( general director ), Konstantin Bogdanenko (business development director), Yuri Karptsov ( financial director ), Sergey Meshanyuk (commercial director), Yuri Chernyavsky, Andrey Usov, Alexander Fedorov, Alexey Popov.

The company consists of more than 50 legal entities registered in different regions related by common owners, among which are DNS Baikal (owner - Karptsov), DNS NN (owner - Meshchanyuk), DNS Alfa Novosibirsk (owner - Chernyavsky), CSN Plus-Samara (owner - Usov), CSN-Perm (owner Fedorov), CSN-Ekaterinburg (owner Bogdanenko), CSN in Khabarovsk (owner Popov), Vostok Center ( owner - Alekseev), “CSN-Kursk” (owner Kichiy I.V.).

In 2013, the network united 700 stores of computer and digital equipment in 240 cities of Russia. Basically, these are retail outlets with an area of ​​300-500 m², there are also 25 hypermarkets up to 1000 m². In addition to stores, the company has 10 distribution centers with a total area of ​​30,000 m², a computer and laptop factory in Artyom , as well as assembly plants in the Moscow Region (in Old Kupavna ) and Novosibirsk .

In April 2014, the company acquired the Computer World network (21 stores in St. Petersburg and 11 more in other cities of the North-West) [6] . In April 2015, all store formats were merged (Frau-Technique, TechnoPoint, Smart) under one single DNS brand.

In March 2018, the company underwent a reorganization, all legal entities were reorganized into CSN Retail.
