Biography
Otton was the son of the Lower Bavarian Duke Stephen I and Jutta Svidnitskaya. After the death of his father in 1310, Otton, together with his brother Henry XIV, became the ruler of the duchy. For guardianship over the young dukes, Ludwig IV of Bavaria and Frederick of Austria fought. On November 9, 1313, Ludwig IV defeated the Austrian forces at the Battle of Gamelsdorf , and Frederick I was forced to abandon his claims to Lower Bavaria.
Due to the question of the division of hereditary lands, relations between Otton and his brother Henry became aggravated, and in 1322 it came to war. In 1331, Lower Bavaria was divided; Otton received Burghausen , Traunstein and several other cities. In 1332, however, the dukes returned to joint rule.
Family and Children
Otto was married to Richard, daughter of Gerhard V of Julich . It is known about one of their children:
- Albrecht, genus. 1332, died before his father.
