Biography
Born October 2, 1838, the son of Colonel Grigory Nikitich Chernyaev from a marriage with Esther Charlotte nee Lekuer.
Educated in the Pavlovsk Cadet Corps , from which he was released on June 6, 1857 as a lieutenant in the army infantry.
On April 19, 1861, Chernyaev was enlisted in the Life Guards Volyn Regiment with renaming as ensigns of the Guard and a year later was promoted to second lieutenant .
Produced on March 19, 1863 as a lieutenant, Chernyaev in the same year took part in the suppression of the uprising in Poland , for the difference he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 3rd degree with swords and bow.
Continuing his service in the guard, Chernyaev subsequently received the rank of headquarters captain (April 17, 1866), captain (April 17, 1870) and colonel (August 30, 1875). He commanded a company and a battalion .
From October 30, 1878, Chernyaev formally consisted of a kind of weapon without a position, but until March 27, 1883, he commanded a reserve battalion of the Life Guards Volyn Regiment, after which he was briefly enlisted.
Upon his return to duty on August 11, 1883, he was appointed commander of the 66th Butyrsky Infantry Regiment and on May 14, 1896 received the rank of Major General . On November 11 of the same year, he commanded the 2nd Brigade of the 8th Infantry Division , and on February 5, 1897 he was transferred to the post of commander of the 1st Brigade of the 24th Infantry Division .
On October 11, 1900, Chernyaev, with the production of lieutenant general, was dismissed with a uniform and pension.
He died in St. Petersburg in 1910, was buried in the cemetery of the Voskresensky Novodevichy Convent .
His elder brother Mikhail Grigoryevich Chernyaev was the Turkestan Governor-General and commander of the troops of the Turkestan Military District .
