Elena Nikitichna Sannikova (b. October 28, 1959, Moscow) is a Soviet and Russian human rights activist and publicist. An employee of the archive of the Memorial Center, an expert of the Movement for Human Rights [1] .

Human rights activities
In 1981, she participated in the Initiative Group for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities , edited the group's bulletins, and conducted surveys of disabled people. She worked with the Political Prisoners Assistance Fund. Published a bulletin "Prisoner Page". Together with Viktor Popkov, she co-founded the Organization of Ethnogarmonization Missions OMEGA. She coordinated assistance to the repressed in the Solzhenitsyn Fund.
The State Security Committee arrested Elena Sannikova on charges of anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda in 1984 and placed him in Lefortovo prison . The court sentenced Sannikov to 1 year of imprisonment and 4 years of exile, which she was serving in the Tomsk region [1] .
She returned to Moscow in December 1987, after which she continued to write articles and engage in human rights activities.
She signed the appeal of the Russian opposition " Putin must leave ."
Sannikova is the editor-compiler of the book “Political Prisoner Mikhail Trepashkin” [2] . Regularly advocates for political prisoners. She defended the publicist Boris Stomakhin [3] . Sannikova’s articles are published on the sites of Grani.ru and “ Putin must leave .”
