Street Description

It begins in the north of the village of Kanata , runs west up to the Ottawa River , where it bends to the south, bypassing Crystal Bay and British Bay . From here, it goes straight to the city center and ends on the outskirts of the Glib area.

Previously, the street ended east, at O'Connor Street (a block east of Bank Street , but in the 1970s, part of the street east of Bronson Avenue was called Glib Avenue.

This is a major transport artery of the city (in different sections from 4 to 6 traffic lanes) with a speed limit of 60 km / h. The extreme western part of the street, passing through the Ottawa Green Belt to Kanata , is a two-lane suburban highway with a speed limit of 80 km / h. It is planned to expand this section, as well as dismantle too low a passage in block 3700, approximately in the middle between March Road and Moody Drive .

In December 2005, one of the lanes on each side in a short section between Boot Street and Cambridge South at Bronson Avenue was turned into bus lanes, where, in particular, a large number of express buses pass.

Attractions

Along the street are: Andrew Haydon Park , Lincoln Fields Shopping Center, Carlingwood Shopping Center, Ferlon Plaza Shopping Center, Westgate Shopping Center , Royal Ottawa Mental Health Center , Ottawa City Hospital , Dominion Observatory and Research communication center .

In the eastern part, the street runs along the northern borders of the Central Experimental Farm and Commissioner Park .
