Biography
Pavel Molchanov was born on March 1 (14), 1902 in the village of Ivolsk (now in the Buda-Koshelevsky district of the Gomel region of Belarus ) into a peasant family.
In 1922 - 1926 he studied at the Belarusian Drama Studio in Moscow.
In 1926 - 1930 and 1936 - 1951 - actor (since 1946 - artistic director) of the 2nd Belarusian State Drama Theater (now the National Academic Drama Theater named after Yakub Kolas ) in Vitebsk .
In 1930 - 1935, he was an actor in the film studio "Soviet Belarus" (now " Belarusfilm "), in 1935 - 1936 - the Belarusian State TRAM .
During the war he played in the Ulyanovsk Drama Theater ( 1941 - 1942 ). In 1944 he headed the front-line theater brigade.
Since 1951 - actor of the Belarusian Drama Theater. Y. Kupala in Minsk . He was an actor of versatile talent, perfectly mastered the art of reincarnation.
He acted in films, acted as a director [1] .
The author of the memoirs “Theater is my life”.
Member of the CPSU (b) since 1945 .
Pavel Molchanov died on February 24 (according to other sources - February 22 [1] ) 1977 . He was buried in Minsk at the Eastern cemetery .
