A triax cable , or triax for short, is a type of electric cable that is related to a coax cable , but differs from it by the presence of an additional layer of insulation and a secondary screening conductor. Compared to coaxial cable, it provides wider bandwidth and increased noise immunity, but is more expensive. It is widely used in television broadcasting for connecting professional video cameras and camera control panels. An external conductor is often used as a shielding ground. The central core serves to transmit data and supply voltage; the inner screen is common ground. Frequency separation of channels allows the camera to transmit audio and video signals (including HD) via cable, and the remote can control the camera by transmitting settings (for example, exposure parameters), commands (for example, tally - live broadcast indication for the operator and subject) and providing food.
