Story
Booth, Brennan, and Zach go to Hanover Private School, where a decaying corpse hanged on a tree was found. After receiving the body, they go to the Jefferson Institute in Washington. Jack Hodgins determined that the victim died 10 to 14 days ago.
While Booth was trying to get a list of students from the school principal, Brennan removed a cochlear implant from the victim's ear. Tracing the serial number on the implant from the database, she found that it belonged to Nestor Olivos, a school student and the only son of the Venezuelan ambassador. Temperance seemed strange that Nestorn's hyoid bone was broken, as in adolescents it was flexible and should not break.
Although the school principal and head of the security service were confident that Olivos was suicidal, Nestor’s mother, Venezuelan ambassador, did not believe in suicide and urged Dr. Brennan to find the truth. The main secret was the question of whether Nestor killed himself or was killed.
Based on Tabinid dolls, Hodgins determined that before his death, Nestor took a large dose of ketamine , which is a dissociative anesthetic . However, the team is not sure that the guy took the drug unintentionally, but Brennan understood the role of ketamine in the scenario of Nestor's death. Nestor would have vomited due to suffocation, but ketamine mixed with gastric juice (consisting of hydrochloric acid ) was blocked by a rope tightened around the neck, and this mixture eventually weakened the hyoid bone. And body weight broke a bone.
In addition to forensic evidence, Brennan and Booth find a sexually-recorded DVD in the victim’s room. Nestor's classmates, Tucker Pattison and Camden Destry, hid a camera in front of his bed. After Tucker used the record to blackmail Camden's mother, Camden decided to blackmail Nestor as well. When Tucker and Camden found out that Nestor was going to tell the director everything, they pumped him with drugs and hung him on a tree to pretend to be suicidal. In the end, Booth and Brennan proved that the victim was killed.
