About the album

'Beat the Bastards is distinguished from its predecessors by its high sound quality and performance of tracks in a heavier style than the previous work of the Massacre group of 1990 similar to it . The songs have voice inserts and curses. The texts tell the audience about the corruption, cruelty and lawlessness that prevail in the streets of Great Britain. In response to a question about the sharp change in the musical style of the group, Watti reminded reporters that their first albums were released long before Metallica and that it was The Exploited that influenced the entire metal genre and got ahead of it.

The recordings were attended by the brothers Watti Buchan Jamie and Willie. The album was produced by Colin Richardson, known for his work with the bands Carcass and Napalm Death . About the Beat the Bastards record, Colin said the following: “We recorded for a long time in the studio, everything took a lot of time because of the vocals. I wanted this album to sound very frantic, and repeat the recordings again and again when something seemed to me wrong or Wattie had a voice go down. The label put a lot of pressure on us, and it’s natural ... during that time, you can record about five albums! ”According to vocalist Buchan, the budget for Beat The Bastards was 40 thousand pounds instead of 20 thousand, which was doubled.

After the release of the album, The Exploited frontman Watti Buchan first appeared before the public without his famous Iroquois hairstyle, namely with a slightly modified hairstyle, which can be seen in the video for the title song Beat the Bastards .

In 2014, Nuclear Blast label released this album with bonus tracks on a vinyl disc and compact cassette.
