Biography
Born in the family of a soldier.
He graduated from MGIMO (1953), graduate school there, after which he defended his thesis, and then his doctorate.
In 1977-1980, adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR.
In 1980-1985, Deputy Permanent Representative of the USSR to the UN.
In 1985-1990, the rector of MGIMO.
In 1990-1992, the ambassador of the USSR, and then the Russian Federation in Canada.
He was a member of the board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR .
Since 1992, retired.
